Tuesday Competitions
Every Tuesday during the golfing season the winner with the
best net score receives a golf ball. If there are more than eight players, the runner-up receives a ball as well
The annual competition fee (Which is used to purchase golf balls) is agreed at the AGM and ladies should pay this to the Treasurer on, or before, they play their first competition of the season.
Opening Games
These are normally 9-hole stableford competitions. The
players with the best two net scores on the day are the winners. They each receive a golf ball dependant on the size of the field.
Captain v Vice Captain aka Secretary v Treasurer
Played at the beginning of the season, this is usually
Greensomes Match play covering as many holes as necessary. Players sign the competition sheet and are divided into two teams.
The competition is followed by supper in the clubhouse.
16 Hole Competition (depending on weather) This is 16-hole medal stroke play. The players with the best two net score on the day are the winners. They each receive a golf ball dependant on the size of the field.
RNLI Competition
A Charity Competition currently played as a one round
stableford. A suggested minimum donation for this competition is decided by the committee. The player with the most stableford points wins. A token of recognition for the winner is presented at the Ladies Annual Dinner in December.
Balfour Salver
Presented by T.C. Balfour of Carberry as a monthly award.
First played for on November 2nd and 7th 1895.
Seven monthly medals played from April to October. The best 4 net Monthly Medal scores to count for the Balfour Salver.
Adamson Cup
Presented by Provost and Mrs. Adamson on May 28th
1906.
One round medal stroke play qualifying. Players with the best 4 net scores qualify for the Match Play
Nan Meikle Quaich
Presented in 1996 by Mrs. Meikle’s two daughters in memory
of their mother.
One single Stableford round.
The Gourlay Donaldson Centenary Cup 1891-1991
Presented by Mary Donaldson August 21st 1991.
The competition to be 3 rounds of medal stroke play. The player with the best 2 net aggregate rounds is the winner.
Montague Annan Bowl
Presented by Mrs. Annan in 1958 in memory of her husband.
Players 50 years of age and over with the best 4 net scores qualify for match play.
Donaldson Timber Trophy
Presented by James Donaldson in July 1991
One single Stableford round. The winner with the highest Stableford score to receive the silver trophy.
Hutton Salver – Club Championship Trophy
Presented by Mr. and Mrs. J. Hutton in 1969 as the trophy
for the Match play champion (Scratch).
Two rounds medal stroke play qualifying. Players with the best 4 scratch scores qualify for the Match Play. This being a scratch competition, no strokes will be given.
Davidson Quaich – Handicap Champion Trophy
Presented by Mrs. Jean Davidson in 1995
Two rounds of medal stroke play. The four players with the best handicap scores qualify for match play.
Granny Hazelton Trophy
Presented in 1968 by Mrs. Shirley Hazelton.
This competition is open to grandmothers. One round of medal stroke play. The qualifying player with the best net score is the winner.
Masterton Cup
Presented by George Masterton and first played for in July
1908.
One round medal stroke play qualifying. Players with the best 4 net scores qualify for the Match Play.
Christie Medal
Presented in August 1892 by Mrs. Christie of Durie.
One round of medal stroke play. The winner is the player with the best scratch score on the day.
Thornton Medal
Presented in 1968 by Mrs. J. Thornton.
One round medal stroke play. The winner is the player with the best net score.
Rita Stuart Trophy
Presented by the family of Rita Stuart in her memory.
One round medal stroke play. The player with the best net score is the winner.
Cancer Charity Competition
The Committee to elect a local cancer charity to be the
recipient of the donation and played as a one round stableford. The player with the most stableford points wins. A token of recognition for the winner is presented at the Ladies Annual Dinner in December.
Dinah Kidd Trophy
Presented in July 2010 by Mrs. Dinah Kidd.
One single Stableford round. Players must be over 60 years old.
White Medal
Presented by John White of Seabank House on October 7th
1893. To be played for annually by members who reside in Scoonie Parish (now no longer a requirement).
One round medal stroke play. The player with the best gross score is the winner.
Mary K Robertson Trophy
Presented in 1970 by Miss E. Robertson in memory of her
sister for ladies’ foursomes.
Players choose own partner for a single round foursomes competition. The winners with the best net score have the option of going forward to the Daily Mail Qualifying rounds.
Alexander Patrick Cleek - Putter
Presented by Mr. Sellars in April 1923.
One single Stableford round.
Parker Shields
Presented in 1991 by Mr. and Mrs. J J Parker.
One round medal stroke play. Silver trophy presented to scratch winner. Bronze trophy presented to handicap winner.
September Trophy
Four rounds played in September. Lady with best two out of four net scores is the winner.
Henry Balfour Rose Bowl
Presented by Lindsay Burns in 1951. Presented at Open Greensomes to the couple with the best scratch score.
Helen Wood Trophy
Presented by Helen Wood in May 2006. Presented at Open Greensomes to the couple with the best net score.
Tom Morris Putter
Presented to the player with the best aggregate score of
four scratch scores in the following competitions throughout the season:

Charity Eclectic Competition (Nan Stevenson Trophy)
The Committee to elect a local charity to be the recipient
of the donation. The competition is an eclectic played throughout the summer season, March to October (The last day of the summer season). A minimum of nine holes must be completed.
The gross scores for each hole to be recorded. At the end of the season, the best gross score for each of the 18 holes will be totalled and 5/8 of the player’s handicap deducted. The player with the best net score will be the winner. The winner to receive the Nan Stevenson trophy.
